Clark Co. mom pushes for Destiny’s Law

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – A Clark County mother made a plea Wednesday for tougher penalties for people convicted of a felony that causes permanent injury to a victim.

Randi Shepherd joined State Representative Bob Hackett at the Ohio Statehouse to support the pending legislation.

House Bill 349 is named for Randi’s daughter.

Destiny’s Law would tack on an additional five to ten years in prison time for anyone that pleads guilty or is convicted of a felony that causes permanent injury to a victim.

Shepherd’s daughter, Destiny, suffered permanent brain damage after she was shaken violently by her mother’s former boyfriend back in 2006.  Destiny was only one year old at the time.
