Homestead tax changes in Montgomery Co.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Montgomery County Auditor’s office announced changes Wednesday to its Homestead Exemption Program.

The program provides tax breaks to homeowners with a disability and senior citizens.

Auditor Karl Keith says new income requirements approved by state lawmakers means this could be the last year many qualify for the program.

“There is a window of opportunity for anyone who was qualified in 2013, but failed to enroll for whatever reason, window of opportunity to qualify under the old rules,” said Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith.

Past participants should still be eligible as will some late applicants to the program.
