DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – 2 NEWS Investigates has found out that 1,800 employees of Montgomery County may have problems accessing their paychecks due to a typo.
The Auditor’s office confirms that someone entered the date 1/4/14 instead of 1/3/14 for this Friday’s payroll.
The Auditor’s Office spokesman, Matt Cox, says the county will take care of the charges of those employees who experience an overdraft.
Cox said about 1,100 employees won’t be able to access their money until Monday. He added the banks and credit unions for the most part are working with the county so there may not be any charges due to the error.
Cox described those impacted as hourly employees in 15 different departments. He told 2 NEWS Investigates this has never happened before.
The county started requiring direct deposits more than two years ago.
The departments impacted by the typo include:
- Animal Resource Center
- Environmental Services
- Facilities Management
- Job & Family Services
- JFS — Child Support Division
- Records Center
- MonDay Correctional Center
- Juvenile Court
- Municipal Court
- Soil & Water
- Five Rivers Metro Parks
