I-70 reopens after deadly crash

RICHMOND, Indiana (WDTN) – The interstate in Wayne County, Indiana reopened Saturday night, following a deadly crash.

The eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed between the 140 and 141 mile markers for about three hours as crews investigated an accident. The interstate reopened around 9 pm.

According to officials, 31-year-old Patrick Wesseler was driving an Impala westbound and traveled across the median into the eastbound lanes where he hit a semi head on.

Wesseler was pronounced dead at scene. The semi driver, Stoyan Stoyanov was uninjured.

Eastbound I-70 traffic was detoured to the Cambridge City 137 exit for more than two hours while troopers investigated.

The crash remains under investigation.
