Extreme cold no feat for one man, waving his way to payday

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN)- The windchill over the next couple of days will make it dangerous to be outside, but one man plans to spend hours outdoors.

Dustin Glascoe has a unique job– he dresses like the Statue of Liberty, and stands outside for up to six hours at a time.

He works for the Liberty Tax Service on Brandt Pike, but it hasn’t been long. He just got the job four days ago.

We spotted Glascoe with his face half covered.

He said he wears four coats and four pairs of socks, taking breaks of 20-30 minutes at a time.

“It’s been very cold. Freezing,” Glascoe said.

Medical experts said you can get frostbite in a matter of minutes in conditions like these, but Glascoe told us he’s fine with layering up in order to make money.

“I figured, you know I’ll get out here and just do whatever it takes to make a check,” he said.

His work ethic appears to be in check, but that doesn’t mean the job is easy.

Glascoe told 2 NEWS, “Twice I’ve gone inside it felt like my hands were already frostbitten  through the gloves, and I’ve got three layers of gloves on.”

More importantly than staying comfortable and warm, he said he needed a job.

According to Glascoe, “I mean, I love working. I love it. Any type of weather, if you like to work I guess you’ll do what it takes to work.”
