DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton police are hoping you can help them solve the city’s first homicide of 2014.

The fatal shooting happened on Parnell Avenue just before noon on January 8.

Officers were called to investigate reports of shots fired and when they arrived, they found Ronald Harris, 57, dead in his home.

Witnesses told police they saw two suspects running away and with the help of a nearby nursing home’s surveillance camera, police think they have video of the two men.

“There was a confrontation at the front door, so we are not sure exactly how it went down, but we do know that one shot was fired from the outside into the storm door and they did not make entry,” said Sgt. Richard Blommel, Dayton Police Department.

“One’s wearing a tan coat and the other is wearing a dark colored coat. We’re hoping people can identify these suspects which may lead us to solving the murder,” said Detective Cayce Cantrell, Dayton Police Department.

Call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867 if you have any information about this crime.
