TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – A Trotwood mother claims her child was left behind on a day care bus in these frigid temperatures and now the Montgomery County Department of Jobs and Family Services is investigating.
Laveta Ingram said her 6-year-old son, Chylan, fell asleep in a backseat of a bus around 3:30 Monday afternoon while riding to after-school daycare at True Care Early Childhood Learning Center in Trotwood.
The boy told his mom when he woke up everyone was gone and he couldn’t get out of the bus. Ingram said the center didn’t even realize her son was unaccounted for. She claims it wasn’t until 5 p.m that staff contacted her and said Chylan was not at the center. While talking on the phone with the staff member, Ingram said her son walked into the day care after managing to get out of the bus on his own.
The owner of True Care Early Childhood Learning has not yet commented on the allegations.
Representatives with Montgomery County Children’s Services will conduct an investigation, then forward its findings to the state division.
