SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN ) – An ex-Springboro school bus driver caught driving drunk has a five day jail sentence hanging over her head.

Sherry Callahan pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of child endangering and one OVI charge. Two more child endangering charges were dropped and two OVI charges were combined into one.

A cruiser cam caught the arrest of Callahan in early January. The arresting officer said he smelled alcohol on her during the arrest. She told him she had about seven beers 13 hours before getting behind the wheel of the school bus.

The police report states she was legally sober to drive a car, but not a commercial school bus.

Magistrate Jeff Kirby ordered her to complete a 30-day alcohol intervention program. He will then decide whether she will serve five days of a stayed 90-day sentence on the child endangering charge.

A 90 day jail sentence on the OVI charge was suspended. She was fined a total of $1,000 for both charges.

The magistrate will decide in April whether Callahan successfully completed the alcohol intervention program to avoid any jail time.
