DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton woman is accused of shooting her live-in boyfriend because she said he disrespected one of her girlfriends.

Kenneth Shackleford, 47, told officers Brenda Shropshire shot him in the foot at their Wilberforce Place home when she became upset.

He said Shropshire first fired the gun in his direction to scare him. They then wrestled over the gun and she fired another shot which hit him in the left foot.

When he pinned her to the floor, she bit him in the face in an attempt to escape.

Police said a family member eventually intervened and took control of the gun.

Shropshire, 28, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of felonious assault.

She admitted to police that she bit Shackleford, but said she did not fire the gun. She said the shooting was the result of a robbery attempt and did not know who the suspect was.
