SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A Springfield grandmother is charged after police say they found two toddlers outside in extremely cold temperatures.

Court documents show an officer was on routine patrol Monday when he saw the 2 year olds on the front porch of a Sherman Avenue home.

Dispatchers reported the wind chill at the time at -10.

The officer reported the children were not wearing coats and their hands were bright red and cold to the touch.

Shannon Bennett, 46, pleaded not guilty to child endangering Thursday.

The mothers of the children picked them up, as well as three others that were inside the home.

Bennett is out of jail on bond.
