Bus driver saves children from serious injury

FRANKLIN, Ohio (WDTN) – Multiple medics responded to a crash involving a car, pickup truck and school bus at the Butler, Warren County line.

The crash happened in the 7400 block of Franklin-Madison Road  just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday.

Fourteen children were on board the bus from the Madison Local School District.

The Lebanon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the bus was stopped to let two children off.

A car stopped opposite the bus and was rear ended by a pickup truck, pushing the car into the bus.   The driver of the car, Robert Krause, 69, of Camden, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The OSP says the bus driver, Mary Woolbridge, 56, yelled to the children outside the bus, ages 6 and 9, to move out of the way when she saw the crash happening.  The 6 year old was hit in the leg by debris, but was not seriously hurt.  No other children were hurt.  Woolbridge suffered minor injuries, but did not go to the hospital.

The pickup driver, Cody Greene, 21, of Franklin, was cited to failure to maintain an assured distance.
