WAYNESVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – The community gathered Friday evening to remember homicide victim, Justin Back.

Back was murdered Tuesday in his Warren County home. His body was later dumped in Preble County.

Family and friends joined the community in the Waynesville High School gymnasium to remember the 18 year old.

One by one,  friends and family members stepped up to the podium to share stories about their time spent with Back.

The navy recruiter who met Back about a year ago, was emotional as he remembered their first meeting, as well as the moment Back told him he had decided to enlist.

“You can always tell the ones that it’s truly going to make a difference in their life. He was definitely one of them,” the recruiter said to the crowd, as he fought back tears.

Marical Ryan and Justin Back went to school together starting in the sixth grade. She organized the memorial.

“It’s a shame what happened, but we’re going to keep moving forward as a community and we’re going to keep moving forward as people and as individuals– keeping Justin’s memory very much alive,” Ryan said.

Two men, Timothy Mosley, 19, and Austin Myers, 19, are charged with Back’s murder.

Police say Back knew the suspects. They were at his home hanging out the day before the murder.

Donations are being collected to help the family with funeral costs.
