School bus driver to be honored for heroics

WARREN CO., Ohio (WDTN) – The Madison School District will honor the school bus driver that helped save two students from serious injuries during a crash Thursday.

The Madison Board of Education will pay special tribute to Mary Wooldridge at the board meeting Monday, February 10.

The two children, ages 6 and 9, will also be honored.

Wooldridge just let the students off the bus Thursday when she noticed a pickup was about to strike a car stopped on the opposite side of the road.

Wooldridge yelled and waved for the children to get out of the way.

Investigators say had she not reacted, the two children would’ve been hit.

No one was seriously hurt in the crash along Franklin-Madison Road.  The pickup driver was cited for failure to keep an assured distance.

The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 10. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
