DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN)- AAA officials were bracing Tuesday afternoon for what they expected to be a very busy night.
With ice and snow moving into the region officials said the number of slide-offs and other accidents will likely rise.
“This winter has been a real eye opener I think for a lot of people,” said Cindy Antrican, Public Affairs Manager with Miami Valley AAA. “This has been one of the more severe winters than we have seen in almost a decade.”
Antrican said drivers should take a few minutes and put together a winter emergency car kit, pack it in the trunk and leave it there. She suggested that kits include small shovels, scrapers, anti freeze, a blanket, jumper cables and kitty litter or any other products that will help with tire traction should you become stuck.
“We want people to be safe, that’s always the key message,” added Antrican. “If in doubt, choose the safe route. If you have any concerns at all, unless you absolutely need to go out, you’re probably going to be safer at home”.
