MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) – Moraine residents will be asked to approve an income tax hike.

The City Council voted Tuesday evening to approve a .5 percent income tax levy.

The tax would run from July 1, 2014 through December 31, 2019, but not until voters have their say during the May 6 Election.

The city called an emergency vote for Tuesday night to ensure the tax proposal would make the May ballot.

It was a unanimous vote in favor of the tax levy.
