DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – One Dayton Public School parent took matters into her own hands on Thursday after what she called a lack of effort by the district to clear her daughter’s school parking lot and sidewalk.
Crystal Kincaid used her cell phone to take video of the snow covered parent drop-off parking lot and the sidewalk leading to Eastmont Pre-K-8 school.
“Somebody is lazy. Somebody is not doing their job. Somebody is dropping the ball,” Kincaid told 2 NEWS.
Kincaid said she complained to school officials about the conditions, but did not get any results. She said her top concern was the safety of the students.
“The sidewalk is right next to the the traffic and its not plowed,” she said. “It’s easy for her to slip and a car to run her over”.
When 2 NEWS returned to the lot later in the afternoon, it was clear and the sidewalk was shoveled.
A Dayton Public School spokeswoman told us the district has 11 groundskeepers who are responsible for clearing 34 buildings over 54 square miles. She said they typically do a great job and this was the first complaint she has heard.
