It was standing room only inside Miami Valley Gaming’s Grandstand Saturday.
The evening marked the second debut of its horse racing after an unexpected power outage forced management to cancel all races Friday.
“The power outage was caused by shortage in supply,” said Jeff Nelson, who is Miami Valley Gaming’s Senior Marketing Director. “We had to cancel the races for the safety of the horses and riders. People were understanding and very forgiving. They came back today (Sat) and they are enjoying great racing.”
Nelson estimated about 2,700 people came Saturday to enjoy not only horse racing, but the gaming center as well, which opened in December 2013.
“Horse racing will bring a new level excitement to Miami Valley Gaming,” said Nelson. “Its too soon to tell how much revenue it will generate or how it will impact the gaming center,” he added when asked.
Live racing starts at 6:30pm every Wednesday thru Sunday February 7th thru May 4th.
Miami Valley Gaming is open all year.
