Dog owners released from jail

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The owners of the dogs who attacked and killed a Dayton woman have been released from jail.

2 NEWS had the only camera rolling at the Montgomery County Jail as the neighbors of Klonda Richey, 57, were released.

Richey was found dead Friday morning by a neighbor after police said she was attacked by her neighbors dogs outside her home on East Bruce Avenue.

Dayton Police Sgt. Richard Blommel said detectives are still investigating the incident.

No charges have been filed against the dogs’ owners as detectives continue working on their case to present to the prosecutor.

Both were expected to appear in court Monday. A memorial continues to grow outside of Richey’s home days after she was killed.

Friends and neighbors described Richey as an animal lover who was taking care of several cats.

Police confirmed Richey had made several complaints against her neighbors and their dogs.
