GERMANTOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – An 18-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he led them on a chase through two counties early Monday morning.

Investigators tell 2 NEWS an officer in Miami Township noticed a suspicious vehicle at the Wyndham Garden hotel around 1 a.m. The officer ran the license plate and discovered there is an outstanding warrant for the car’s owner, Lamar Caviness.

Police say Caviness refused to pull over, and took off on Ohio 741 heading north. He went up to West Carrollton, then came back down through Miamisburg and Germantown, where officers picked up the pursuit.

Police say Caviness was driving as fast as 70 mph.

Sheriff’s deputies in Preble County were able to stop the car by putting out stop sticks on Ohio 503, blowing out the car’s tires.

Caviness was taken into custody by German Township police and was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding and failure to comply. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
