DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) The bitter cold and winter storms isn’t stopping the busiest floral holiday of the year. Oberer’s Flowers in Dayton has been busy preparing several thousand arrangements for Valentine’s Day this Friday.
Henry Stone, Greenhouse Assistant Manager says, “The weather hasn’t so much impacted the quality of the flowers it’s getting them here on time but we’ve found out how to work around that and get arrangements to the customers.”
Red roses are still the staple of the sweetheart holiday. In order to deliver all of the three thousand orders placed Oberer’s has a fleet of 30 rental cars on standby.
Drivers have to face the same conditions we face, like warming up vehicles and dodging rough roads.
“Mostly with deliveries we have to start them a little earlier. Dig them out just like everyone else delivery times are extended a bit due to driving conditions. We take extra precautions to protect the flowers from frostbite in the delivery process,” says Stone.
If you haven’t made your order you still have time. Stone says a delivery may not happen at the exact time you may want but there are plenty of arrangements available for pickup in the store.
