Experts say snow helps insulate plants

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN)-  Snow has likely complicated your commute to work or maybe even your child’s school schedule over the past couple months.

But, according to John Scott, who is a general manager at Knollwood Garden Center and Landscaping, a layer of snow on top of our plants will actually help protect help from this subzero winter.

“The layer of snow helps insulate the plants,” explained Scott. “People should be wary of animals, such as rabbits. Animals and rodents are struggling for a food source this winter.  They are chewing on stems because the snow is piled up higher on the plant.”
