Truck crashes into porch, driver arrested

RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) – A driver was arrested early Thursday morning after police said he crashed his truck into the porch of a home on Dawes Avenue.

2 NEWS was first on the scene around 2:45 a.m.

The homeowner, Dan Seibert, told 2 NEWS he was sleep at when the crash happened.

“We just heard a Big Bang and came out looked out my back door and saw this guy getting out of his truck very inebritaed,” Siebert said.

Tire tracks in the snow show the truck’s path through Seibert’s yard, which backs up to Brandt Pike.

Seibert looked outside to see what was going on.  He said the driver had already gotten out of the truck and called Riverside Police.

Police suspect the man behind the wheel, 29-year-old Paul Wellman, was drunk. Wellman is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of OVI. He is due in court Thursday afternoon at 2:30.

Siebert doesn’t hold a grudge against Wellman.  He said he hopes this crash serves as a reminder to everyone not to drink and drive, but unfortunately it’s come at a price – ; the damage to his porch is substantial.

“Pretty upset. I’d like to know how I am going to get this fixed,” Siebert said.

Seibert said he’s grateful his family was not hurt.
