CLEVELAND (AP) — One of three women held captive in a Cleveland home for about a decade has celebrated her first birthday since their rescue by joining hundreds of guests at a winter-themed ball.

Thursday marked Gina DeJesus’ 24th birthday. WJW-TV reports DeJesus wore a long, formal white dress as she celebrated last weekend with a big party at an event center in Mayfield Heights. More than 250 guests were on hand.

DeJesus, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Berry’s young daughter were rescued from kidnapper Ariel Castro’s home last May after Berry yelled for help. DeJesus and Berry have a joint book deal, and Knight is working on her own memoir.

Castro killed himself in prison in September after he was sentenced to spend life behind bars.
