Police investigate possible child abandonment


DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Montgomery County Children’s Services and the Dayton Police Department are investigating the possibility a child was abandoned outside a Dayton home Thursday night.

Police told 2 NEWS a 4-year-old boy knocked on the door of the house around 8:30 Thursday night. The homeowners told police when they opened the door, they saw a woman drive off. The homeowners contacted police, who then alerted  Children’s Services.

Investigators located the child’s mother who told police it was another adult female who was caring for the the child, and not the mother who dropped off the boy.

The incident is still being investigated and all the people involved are being interviewed by county case workers and officers with the Dayton Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.

Police said the child unharmed and OK.
