CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN)- The Kettering Regional Swat Team moves in after a simulated attack.
Officers from Kettering, Centerville, Miamisburg, Oakwood and Springboro were all part of a Friday training exercise dealing with a weapons of mass destruction scenario.
It took place at the former Showcase Cinemas in Centerville.
Each officer wore special boots, suits and gloves, as well as gas masks.
The team trains twice a month for possible real-world situations like this.
These officers are forced to combat many different obstacles.
“Some victims were actually suspects that posed as victims, trying to give up, trying to get out of the scene, saying that they were a vicitm and they were actually indeed a suspect. They had grenades put behind doors so they had a lot of things going on at once they had to be prepared for,” says Kettering Police Lt. William Karolyi.
The SWAT team has trained here three times, but they won’t be able to again because the movie theater is going to be demolished next week.
