DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton man is behind bars on charges of breaking and entering.

Joshua Ball, 21, was arrested early Sunday morning.

Police were called to 630 Elberton Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after neighbors reported a man breaking into a home.

When officers arrived on scene, they spoke with witnesses who said a man wearing a long black coat broke into the home located at 630 Elberton Avenue. Neighbors told police the owner of the property had just recently died and the home was still full of all of her belongings.

When police went to the home, they found the front door open and noticed Ball on the ground covered in a white sheet. Officers ordered Ball to put his hands up and he complied. He was placed into handcuffs.

Ball told officers he had permission to be in the home and he was just going to sleep there for the night.

Police noted that Ball was intoxicated.

Ball was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
