Officers arrest two for stolen scrap metal

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) –Two men are arrested after police say they broke into a foreclosed property and stole scrap metal.

Curtis Parker, 41, and Marlin Mays, 42, were arrested on charges of breaking and entering.

Officers were dispatched to 116 East Norman Avenue just before 11 a.m. Saturday on reports of people breaking into a foreclosed property. When police arrived, they spotted a maroon Chevy 1500 pick-up truck with a large amount of metal driving from the area towards Riverside Drive.

Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.

According to the police report, the men were carrying furnace and duct work in the back bed of their truck. Officers also noted a crate containing tools and tools in the passenger compartment of the truck.

Parker told police he found the metal in an alley.

The suspects were booked into the Montgomery County Jail. They will appear in court on Tuesday.
