Class was in session Monday at Sidney City Schools despite the Presidents Day holiday.
District leaders decided to send students to class after using its seventh snow day at the end of January.
“We closed on January 28 because it was negative 40 with the wind chill,” explained John Scheu, who is the district’s superintendent. “The next day we decided we would send students to school on Presidents Day in order to avoid having to go into the summer months.”
Scheu said at the beginning of the school year Presidents Day was selected to be a potential make-up day.
“It was already built into the calendar as a potential make-up day,” explained the Superintendent.
The district still has another day to make up due to the frigid winter. Scheu said that will mostly likely be added on to the end of the s
