FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) -The FEA and the FCEA, both representing Fairborn teachers, have voted yes on a new contract proposal.
The decision was made behind closed doors at the American Legion in Fairborn during an FEA and FCEA meeting.
FEA and FCEA spokesperson Brian McWhorter said a new contract is effective immediately. Part of the proposal includes an increase in pay for teachers, decrease in class sizes, and noon aides to help in primary classes.
McWhorter said the two unions have dropped their unfair labor practice suit against the Fairborn School Board as part of the agreement. The unions were supposed to meet the State Employment Relations Board in Columbus on Feb. 19.
Contract negotiations between teachers and the Fairborn School District have been lingering for months since the Fairborn School Board decided to cancel teacher contracts last summer.
