WASHINGTON TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – A once popular restaurant got a knock out punch Wednesday.

Champps on Washington Village Drive in Washington Township closed its doors for good.

Company spokesperson, Rick Van Warner, tells 2 NEWS the restaurant was underperforming for some time.

Four full time employees and 60 part time workers are affected. The four managers received severance pay, as did some part-timers based on their longevity with the company.

Champps opened for business at the Washington Township site in 1998. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
