KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – Driving can be dangerous when roads are wet. That is why you need to be on high alert.
Jeff Caldwell owns PDS Driving School in Kettering. The former police officer says just because the weather is warmer, you shouldn’t relax when driving.
He says weather doesn’t create crashes, people do.
Caldwell explains that water on the roads can still be dangerous and you still need to pay close attention.
“Look far down the road, have a plan, keep a good space cushion, do your breaking early, make sure that people can see you by having your headlights on and of course, using your windshield wipers when it’s raining,” explains Caldwell.
He says you should check your tire pressure too.
Also, make sure you have enough tread on them. You can check that by taking a penny and sticking it inside, you should only be able to see about half of it.
And, of course, never drive through flood waters.
