FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) – Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is getting into the land leasing business.

Base leaders announced Thursday that several parcels of property will be available to city leaders in exchange for cash or in kind consideration.

The base is also accepting proposals for partnerships in which it says would give WPAFB and surrounding communities more resources, cut costs and find shared values.

“We all need salt in the winter time. Certainly, we can get a better deal if we all go in together and buy salt together,” said Col. Cassie Barlow, 88th Air Wing Commander. “That’s a perfect example of a partnership. We need to train doctors and Wright State University needs to train doctors, so the fact that we can do that together and get the shared benefits of that, that’s another great example.”

Colonel Barlow calls it a win-win for everyone involved.
