Bellefontaine, OHIO (WDTN)

Bellefontaine Police have made an arrest in the hit-and-run that killed a Marine this past weekend.

Police said Gunnery Sergeant Monica Plank, 34, of Stafford, Va. was walking with her husband in the 900 block of South Main Street early Sunday morning when she was hit by a car.

The driver took off. Saturday, Holly Fowler, 26, was arrested and charged with failing to stop after an accident and tampering with evidence. She was booked into the Logan County Jail.

Bellefontaine Police Chief Brandon Standley said the investigation led them to a local bowling alley, where they interviewed Fowler and asked to see her vehicle. We’re told the car had damage believed to be consistent with the deadly accident. Chief Standley said Fowler later admitted she struck Plank.

Detectives have requested the assistance of Ohio BCI to process the car for more evidence.

Plank’s funeral was held Saturday morning in West Liberty.
