Mitchell charged with murder in Huber Heights

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – The man police said was seen leaving the scene of a homicide Friday night is now charged with murder.

Ryan Mitchell, 29, is charged with murder, felonious assault on a police officer, felonious assault, grand theft of a motor vehicle and burglary among others.

A Montgomery County District Court judge entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Mitchell on charges of theft of vehicle and hit and skip Monday before the murder charges came.

Melissa Nilson, 26, was found dead in the yard of a home at 4081 Cree Ave. Friday evening.

Police say Mitchell was seen speeding away from the scene and was later taken into custody at a nearby bar.
