Beat winter blues with a trip to the library

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Cabin fever is a common condition this winter.

One way to beat the blues is with a trip to the library.

More and more people are using the internet for their library services.

Dayton Metro Library is reporting a 31% increase of downloaded items from this January to last January.

“We have three types of downloadables. We have Zinio which is over 150 magazines. We have Overdrive which is Ebooks and audio books and we have Hoopla which is movies,” said Chuck Duritsch, Dayton Metro Library.

The number of people actually going to the library this winter is still holding steady.

“We’re probably looking at pretty similar to what we’ve done last year. People still come to the library to pick up books that they’ve ordered, return books, so we’re not seeing a drop in visits.”

The magazines, movies and books are all free whether you download them onto your computer or brave the cold and head to the library.
