DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN)- The Kettering Rec Center is seeing a big boost in traffic due to the weather. There are many programs and activities there that can help you fight the winter blues.
Brittany Drown watched her 5-year-old daughter take ice skating lessons Tuesday afternoon.
“I have three little kids. She’s the oldest. It’s really nice to come to the Kettering Rec Center and take ice skating lessons or take gymnastics. They have so many different things to do here and it’s been really nice to just break up the monotony and get the kids out of the house. Even her little brother and sister like to come and just run around and watch her do lessons. It’s been really great,” explains Drown.
Most of the activities offered by the Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department are free for Kettering residents, but some charge a small fee.
“As a parent and a professional, I’m so glad that we have these opportunities in Kettering because I also have three kids and just being stuck inside, week after week, month after month, they just want something to do and be active so the open gym times, the open swim times, the open skating, allows a lot of opportunities for kids to participate or kids and families to participate together,” says Claudine Heizer of the Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.
