Man shot, beaten in robbery attempt


DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton police said a man was shot in the leg and beaten by a group of people early Tuesday morning.

The man told police he went to a home of someone he knows in the 800 block of Five Oaks Avenue around 1:15 a.m.

When the victim got there, he told police he ran into four people he didn’t know. The man said he felt uncomfortable and left, but said the suspects followed him out of the house.

Authorities said the group shot the victim once and tried to rob him.   The bullet hit the victim once in the leg.

The suspects ran away. It’s unclear if they got any of the victim’s belongings.

Police are interviewing a witness in an attempt to identify the suspects.

The victim is recovering at Miami Valley Hospital.
