Atty. General DeWine hospitalized after vertigo

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The office of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says he fell ill during a speaking engagement in Cincinnati and was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

A statement from the office on Friday said DeWine was taken to the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati as a precaution.  Late Friday, spokeswoman, Lisa Hackley released the following statement early Friday evening:

“Attorney General Mike DeWine is feeling much better after not feeling well earlier today prior to a speaking engagement in Cincinnati. His wife Fran is with him and they want to express thanks to all who have passed along good wishes. He will be held at The Christ Hospital overnight for observation after a bout of vertigo and is expected to be released tomorrow.”

The 67-year-old DeWine is a former U.S. senator and Ohio lieutenant governor. After losing his Senate seat to Democrat Sherrod Brown in 2006, the Republican DeWine ran for attorney general in 2010 and won.
