XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) – The Greene County Sheriff’s major who was fired Thursday has hired a lawyer to represent him in the case.
Major Eric Spicer has been on paid administrative leave since a July 2013 officer-involved shooting that left a Yellow Springs man dead.
Sheriff Gene Fischer terminated Major Eric Spicer within days of the Sheriff receiving the findings of an internal investigation conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office.
Spicer released a statement to 2 NEWS Monday reading in part, “I am proud of my record there having been apart of some of the largest most complex cases and operations in the history of the office.”
He went on to say, “Regrettably I cannot speak to specifics of the administrative personnel case and will have to hold that for the appropriate forum. “
Officials with the Greene County Sheriff’s office have not yet commented further on the matter.
