DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton police are trying to figure out why they had to chase down a driver Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the Summit Square Apartments on Summit Square Drive around 9:00 p.m. on reports of a disturbance and shooting.

They arrived and saw a car speed away. Officers pursued the car until the driver bailed out on a US 35 ramp onto James H. McGee Boulevard.

Officers say they used a taser to get the man under control.  He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital to be checked out.

It turns out that there was no shooting at the apartment complex. Officers are unclear right now about exactly why the car sped away from them.

An investigation is now underway.
