XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) – In the quest to find out why after 10 years a Major with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office was terminated, 2 NEWS Investigates obtained his personnel file.

Sheriff Gene Fischer terminated Major Eric Spicer on March 6, 2014.

Spicer had been on paid administrative leave since July 31 of last year, following the Yellows Springs shootout that ended in the death Paul Schenck.

The file shows numerous letters praising Spicer’s conduct over the years, and it appears he only received one written reprimand that had to do with him failing to report damage to a vehicle.

Fischer told 2 NEWS Investigates he was advised by legal counsel not to comment at this time.  He simply said Spicer was an “unclassified” employee which means he serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff.

Eric Spicer has also obtained legal counsel.

2 NEWS Investigates will continue to review the newly obtained file and will have more information on this developing story online at WDTN.com and on 2 NEWS beginning at 5:00.
