TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) — Trotwood Police are investigating after a man shoots himself in front of the City Building.

The incident happened in front of 3035 Olive Road just before noon Saturday.

According to officials, an officer was at the city building talking to a family about a child exchange issue. While the officer was waiting for the other half of the family to arrive, a 69-year-old man pulled into the parking lot and shot himself in the head.

Medics and back-up crews responded to the scene.

Police found a note in the man’s car explaining the circumstances of the suicide.

Trotwood officers said they received a prior call about a possible suicide on Mario Drive. They’re looking into whether the two incidents may be related.

The victim will not be identified until the family has been notified.
