Burglary alert for Dayton neighborhood

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Police have issued an alert about a burglary pattern on the city’s east side.

Five burglaries have been reported on the La Belle St., between Josie and Mclain Streets. All occurred during the overnight hours March 8-16.

The suspect got broke into the houses by breaking a small hole in the glass window near a door, allowing them to reach in and turn the doorknob, according to the alert. In two cases, the suspect used a screwdriver to pop out the window glass and get inside.

We’re told several items including televisions, video game systems and laptops were stolen. In some cases, the homeowners were asleep upstairs and did not hear anything.

An incident that occurred on Mar. 10 on Bolton St. is also under investigation. Police said a person inside a home heard glass breaking and went to investigate, likely scaring the suspect away.

If you see anyone acting suspicious, you’re asked to call Dayton Police immediately at 333-COPS (2677).
