DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) University of Dayton students cheered loudly as the men’s basketball team tipped off against OSU in the NCAA tournament Thursday. Red Scare hosted a watch party at the Hangar, a popular hang out on campus.
“We’re upsetting today,” shouted Dan Brito, who is President of Red Scare. “We’re excited!”
The energy was just as high from fans packed inside the Milano’s on Brown street in Dayton.
The suspense of the game brought fans to their feet, chanting “Dayton, Flyers, Go UD!”
“Every time we score its like hitting the ceiling,” said one UD student. ” This is why we’re here. The energy.”
Dayton up at half-time only intensified their spirits. The Flyers remained strong in the second half.
Fans were silent during the last play of the game, then erupted with cheers as Dayton took the win.
There were tears of joy from some UD students.
“Its my first NCAA win,” shouted one female senior, with eyes full of tears.
“This is awesome, unbelievable,” shouted another UD student. “UD pulls together as a community right here to support our Flyers. We couldn’t be happier to beat Ohio State.”
