DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – An emotional Crime Stoppers alert from a Dayton woman who described how she was attacked just outside her home.

“They kept hitting me in the head with the gun.  Finally, they gave up and the second gunman said go ahead and kill her, go ahead and kill that b-word.  At that moment, the gentlemen cocked the gun while the gun was still at the back of my head,” said Luanna Burt.

Burt says she was leaving her home to walk her dog Tuesday when she was greeted by the men.

They kept demanding cash, but she didn’t give them any and they eventually left.

Despite the knot on her head from being attacked, Burt says she not a victim, she’s a survivor.

“I want everybody to know to watch your surroundings especially women when you go outside.  If it can happen to me, it can happen to you.  Look outside.  Don’t be scared to look outside before you go.”

Police arrested James Richards.  He faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and burglary.

Police are still looking for a second suspect, so If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
