Spring means look out for sex offenders

Crime scene tape

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Now that spring is here, warm weather isn’t far away and that means your kids could be spending more time outdoors.

Police say that means taking extra precautions to make sure they are aware of the locations of sex offenders and know what to do if approached.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office website offers ways to talk about this with your children, including telling them don’t accept rides or gifts from this person and don’t go into their home or yard.

They also encourage open communication so your child feels he or she can tell you if anyone suspicious approaches.

You can find sex offenders in your neighborhood on your area’s sheriff’s office website.
