Two firefighters injured in house fire

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – First responders rushed to the scene of a fire on the 3000 block of Hillcrest Avenue in Harrison Township around 1 a.m.

Authorities told 2 NEWS flames covered the basement and spread to the first floor of the home.  They said someone passing by saw smoke coming from the home and called 911.

Two  firefighters went to the basement to search for hot spots once the fire was contained and authorities said a wall fell on them.

The Harrison Township Fire Chief told 2 NEWS those two first responders suffered minor shoulder and back injuries and were taken to the hospital to be treated.  They are expected to be okay.

Crews from Dayton, Clayton and Trotwood assisted Harrison Township.

Investigators don’t have a cause of the fire and the chief said they are still collecting evidence to find a cause.

Authorities estimates at least $30,000 worth of damage to the house.
