Flyer faithful welcome home basketball team

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN)-Dayton Flyers faithful welcomed home their basketball team early Sunday morning.

11th-seeded Dayton knocked off the 3rd-seeded Syracuse Orange with a 55-53 win in the NCAA Tournament Saturday night.

More than a hundred Fl;yer fans gathered at the Cronin Center to greet the team as they got off the bus from Buffalo around 3:30 Sunday morning.

Coach Archie Miller told 2 NEWS’ Jackie Sprague that the team will have Sunday off to rest and relax.  But, Monday the team starts preparing for their Sweet 16 opponent.

Dayton will play the winner of Sunday’s game between Kansas and Stanford.

It’s been three decades since the team made it this far in the tournament.

We interviewed several players about their big victory.
