Coroner IDs bike crash victim

PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) – A bicyclist killed in a collision with a van Saturday has been identified.

Joseph Giampapa, 55, of Dublin, Ohio thrown approximately 125-150 feet by the impact.

The deadly crash happened around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Loy Road and Troy-Sidney Road.

Giampapa was riding with a group participating in a distance ride that began in Springfield and traveled to Troy, before ending back in Springfield.

The driver of the van, 78-year-old Thomas Davis of Fletcher was uninjured.

The coroner said that no drugs or alcohol had any part in the accident.
