Local gas prices buck national trend

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Gas prices are on the rise nationally, and so far prices in the Miami Valley are below the average.  According to the Lundburg survey, an increase in the price of ethanol is increasing the price of gas.  Ethanol is blended into gasoline, and it is up $.54 a gallon.

The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas went up more than $.10 in the last four weeks to $3.52 according to AAA.  Gas prices in the Dayton area sit around $3.43 per gallon for now.

U.S refiners are starting to switch over to more expensive summer-blend gasoline which is also to blame for the incrase exper.
